The Treasure of God’s Word
Hey everyone …
The old gospel hymn “Thy Word Is Like a Garden Lord” gives me strength these days. The first verse says, “Thy Word is like a garden, Lord, with flowers bright and fair; and everyone who seeks may pluick a lovely cluster there”.
We all try to find ways of coping during this time of stress and isolation. I have my flowers and tomato plants to tend to. They remind me that better times are coming, and that God remains in control. Watching the tomatoes ripen and the flowers bloom are evidence of God’s care and compassion for all of us.
I hang onto Isaiah 40:6-8, “A voice cries says, ‘cry out’! And I said, ‘what shall I cry?’ All people are grass, their constancy is like the flower of the field … the grass withers, the flower fades; but the Word of our God will stand forever.”
It is true that we are fragile people and that we struggle these days. All of us wait for times to get better, and for the opportunity to share the wonderful fellowship we desire together. All we do is wait it seems!
Take heart! God is strong for us. God’s promise is trustworthy. God’s Word stands forever.
