We are celebrating with three college graduates and five High School graduates this Sunday at Christ Lutheran. We are proud of their accomplishments and pray for them as they take the next step in life.
When I graduated from High School someone shared these verses with me from Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” I can’t say I always followed the wisdom from this scripture, but none the less it provided for me a source of encouragement and understanding. I remember reading it throughout the years when I faced confusing and difficult circumstances.
This is what I would say. Our faith and trust in God is most important. Yes, we will waver and fail in our committment, but God will always remain by our side. The most vital part of faith is God’s unfailing promise to be there for us. God wants to be part of every decision we make in life. And God is willing to listen to all of our concerns and questions, not just the big concerns. Feel free to pray about anything and everything. God’s ear is always available.
Finally, remember the last part of this scripture: “and he will make straight your paths”. Doesn’t mean that your way in life will always be easy. There will be hills to climb and valleys to trudge through. There will also be glorious times of celebration and jubilee. What is most important is that God will provide direction for you and be by your side as you walk the path.
Congratulations and God’s blessing to all of you!
