Sitting on the plane on the way to Seattle gives me time to think. Sometimes enjoying the quiet feels like a luxury. So many things to do and so many needs to attend to. And these needs are not insignificant. A sermon to prepare, people to visit, people to meet in the community and of course the ever-looming question of what is the future of Christ Lutheran?
The prophet Jeremiah says something about our future, “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.”
I have high hopes for Christ Lutheran. And this is what I am doing to renew that hope:
Contact every member of Christ Lutheran by a visit, phone call, or personal letter. My preference is by visit but sometimes that is not doable. If you prefer a visit, do me a
favor and let me know. Tell me when I can stop by.
Lead Bible Studies during the year. Plans are already set that I am meeting with the the residents of “The Grand” for a monthly study. I need 2-3 people from Christ Lutheran to go with me and meet the people and get to know them. Your involvement shows care and concern and lets them know they are welcome to be a part of our congregation.
Encourage you to join us at our Wednesday evening Worship Service. 30 minutes long and a casual and edifying time of prayer, biblical discussion and holy communion. Let’s increase average attendance from 25 to 35 people, and bring someone new into Christ Lutheran.
I know what I am doing this year to renew hope. What are you going to do??
