God’s Amazing Love

“God demonstrates his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

Visiting someone yesterday who said to me, “Jesus was hanging on the cross and yet he asked God to forgive us. That is a different kind of love than we have.” So true!

We don’t like hearing it or being reminded, but folks, we are sinners. And it was because of our sins that Christ went to the cross on our behalf. Even good church people sin, and if you don’t think so, think again.

Now this is what becomes so amazing. Christ did not sin. He did not deserve to die by crucifixion. He was innocent. Yet he chose the cross. He gave up his life for us, that we might have life again in God. And Isaiah’s promise becomes so real for us, “though our sins are like crimson, they shall become white as snow.”

But lets go one step farther! Live fully in the joy of forgiveness. Live as a forgiven child of God. Think before you speak. Consider how your actions will affect other people. Put away petty and critical attitudes. Rejoice in God’s goodness and share the joy of your salvation.
